Formula Car Steering System Design

The topic of this master degree thesis is Formula Car Steering System Design. The thesis analyses principles connected with the steering system, such as aligning torque, camber variation from steering or spindle height change, as well as the influence of the steering wheel geometry on these principles. The main part of this thesis is steering system designing for practical purposes in international competitions of university teams. The simulation of parts is processed by finite element method. Also included are the load transfer and the tyre data sets topics. The thesis concludes with a list of several examples of car setup for cornering.

Bachelor thesis focuses on comparing different types of axles between them with emphasis on changing the geometry during propružení.In student version of Autodesk Inventor Professional was created virtual models of axles and virtual test polygon. The output of the program are a series of images showing the axle during springing. Changes in geometry are quoted, described and analyzed. In conclusion there are compared to civil rights and race suspension.

In those diploma work was solved problems of independent trapezoidal axletree for low-floor bus - NB12 CITY firm SOR Libchavy s.r.o . Work was divided into two main features: solving wheel-suspension kinematics and strenght calculation sorted parts of wheel suspension by the help of finite element method. There was effected fatigue calculation sorted parts of wheel suspension according to „Resetova metoda“ of predicting fatigue damage flowing from so – called cutaway methodics of fatigue tests at the close of this work.
Construction of an Experimental Vehicle Chassis Using the Lego System

This bachelor's thesis deals with the development of an experimental vehicle chassis using LEGO system parts with the aim of creating a platform for development of autonomous driving. To achieve this goal, the experimental vehicle chassis must meet the parameters and characteristics of real automobiles. Therefore, research was conducted to investigate the parameters and examine requirements for steering geometry, wheel bearings, arm structures, hub structures, and other key components of the chassis, as well as the approaches used to address these parameters in official LEGO models. Based on these findings, an initial model was assembled using only LEGO system parts, on which these parameters were evaluated. Limitations of the LEGO system were identified in wheel bearings, arms, and hubs. Subsequently, design modifications were made to these parts, including the use of rolling ball bearings and the production of arms and hubs using 3D printing technology. The second model, constructed using these modified parts, already met the mentioned requirements and approached the chassis of real automobiles.
